It’s not always what you say; sometimes, it’s how you say it! Effective communication is the cornerstone of every functioning relationship, but if no one is listening, there is nothing to be heard.

On Wednesday, February 10, 2010, from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m., LW Special Events will present its first relationship forum: Real Talk: African American Men Speak, to address the inherent need for effective communication measures in personal and professional relationships. The forum will be presented primarily from the male perspective and includes an eight-person professional panel.

“Each life is a culmination of relationships, both failed and thriving,” says LaTonya Washington, Founder and CEO of LW Special Events Management. “All relationships can be separated into two categories: the ones that communicate and the ones that do not. This forum will exhibit the ways in which we can become better communicators in order to become better fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, professionals, and friends.”

The “Real Talk: African American Men Speak” panelists include:

  • Jon W. Covington (moderator): Host and producer of national television shows, radio shows, and community workshops just to name a few.  He is the Founder and CEO of MOCITI (mo kee tee); a networking organization for men of color in the entertainment industry.
  • Jay King: Music industry legend, icon, and manager of multi-platinum selling artist CLUB NOVEAU.
  • Daniel Griffin: Successful entrepreneur and property owner. Daniel’s properties are homes reserved exclusively for low-income tenants eligible to receive the government subsidy.
  • James Sutton: Singer/Musician who serves with the leadership team at Mariner’s Church, Orange County, to develop and implement relevant expressions of worship targeted towards single adults, ages 40 plus.
  • David Hernandez: Radio personality at KJLH 102.3FM.  David works side-by-side with host, Andrae Russell, on Spread the Word.
  • Prentice Randolph: CEO of Multi Twin Productions and independent record label, Randolph Group, where he produces and develops new artists with their unique production sound.
  • Echo Allen: Founder of The Goddess Training Academy, an organization dedicated to inspire, motivate, and educate women to cultivate passion, receive pleasure, and live a life of feminine replenishment.
